Call it whatever you wish L’AMAmusique or LAMA Music

We’re here to take you where you want to go, step by step!

We are sponsored by the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique, Danse et Théâtre (CPMDT)

L’AMAmusique continues to develop thanks to close ties and support from the CPMDT. An official accord that links the two institutions ensures logistical support, loan of premises and educational exchanges.

as well as by private donors

L’AMAmusique receives no subsidies from any public entity. Our funding comes from various institutions in the private sector. This support is what enables L’AMAmusique to offer adult amateur musicians a wide-range of quality courses and the opportunity to meet and exchange with other amateur and professional musicians.

and of course by YOU!!

When you become a member of L‘AMAmusique you join a community of music lovers and get discounts on workshops and master classes.

Your membership helps keep L’AMAmusique alive and running.

L’AMAmusique Philosophy

The aim of the Association is to offer amateur adult musicians an opportunity to play and practice music while expanding their knowledge in the field through a rich programme of classes and activities.

L’AMAmusique organises many activities around music

some of which are open to non-members

Every year L’AMAmusique proposes an extensive programme of day sessions, workshops, master classes and lectures. Our teachers lead most of these activities but we also have guest speakers. Although our programme is designed primarily for L’AMAmusique members, some activities are also open to a wider audience.

See our offer for open workshops, day sessions & lectures

L’AMAmusique students have many opportunities
to perform in public.

Doing a public presentation of your musical work is important and rewarding, even if it can make you nervous! (By the way, our staff is good at helping students overcome stage fright!) Teachers organise auditions and concerts for L’AMAmusique members throughout the school year.

Public performances

The Orchestre Symphonique, the Petit Orchestre de l’Est and the Tango orchestre give concerts several times a year. Students may also participate in a number of public "auditions-concerts".
The Fête de la Musique and the « Le coin des Amateurs » (the amateur's corner) also offer L’AMAmusique students an opportunity to play or sing in public.

Non-public performances

Musical moments are organized several times a year for senior citizens living in residential institutions in Geneva. This is an opportunity for students to perform before another, perhaps surprising, audience that often gets immense pleasure from their music.
For the musician who offers this generous gift it is a formative experience!

How is the Association organised?

L’AMAmusique has more than 500 members, including 37 teachers. It aims to provide amateur adult musicians with the best means to practice music and improve their knowledge in the field. The General Assembly is the Association’s decisional body. It appoints the Committee, which is composed of 5 to 10 volunteer members. The Committee oversees the Association’s activities, looks after its interests, and manages funds and donations (see Article 17 of L’AMAmusique statutes). The Committee appoints a coordinator who administers and executes the main tasks of the Association.
