As such, with the agreement of the president, Jean-Jacques Martin, we call upon your generosity to support the Symphony Orchestra programme. Le “Petit Orchestre de l’Est” was established as a workshop in 2010 by Valentine Mercier, with the idea of transmitting and sharing the wealth of sounds and rhythms of traditional Balkan music.
This workshop involves an orchestra of variable size. It allows participants to acquire a repertoire and covers in detail certain rhythms and modes which are characteristic of these regionsusing various instrumental techniques and approaches to ensemble playing, and including improvisation (no prior experience required!).
Partitions, arranged and customized by Valentine Mercier, are sent out during the year. New members are given the time to assimilate the repertoire with the orchestra prior to public performances.
